How to figure out the “Why” of Behavior to get to the “What to do” of Discipline

When children present challenging behavior, adults often want to respond immediately with a perfect intervention. However, all interventions are effective if they fit the reason for the behavior. And, interventions will not work if they do not address the underlying issue or motivation for the behavior. Adults are guided to avoid applying their favorite interventions or interpreting from their favorite theories, but to use assessment to individualize response for more appropriate discipline.

This dvd explains how careful assessment leads to conceptual clarity that eventually leads to the choice of appropriate and effective interventions that lead to the two types of results that adults seek. Setting boundaries that create safety, stability, and other positive contexts allow for the second set of results, growth and change. Adults will find that instinct and intuition that leads to successful discipline has theoretical integrity. Theoretical soundness will in turn allow adults to be proactive with discipline. TRT 27min
