Social & Emotional Issues and Disabilities in Children

Learning differences and learning disabilities are presented as child diversity. Adults are guided to understand the cross-cultural challenges of learning different children. Children are honored when their challenges are viewed from a multi-cultural perspective. Adult misunderstanding leads frustration from being unable to perform as expected and of failing to please parents and teachers. With a brief review of some learning disabilities, the dvd focuses on the potential social and emotional problems for children with learning differences. Common but highly problematic “encouragements” to “try harder” are identified and more appropriate support is suggested. TRT 47min
