With the “Working It Out Plan”



This dvd focuses on the need to have confrontation in order to resolve conflicts. Conflict resolution is not achieved by avoiding conflict or confrontation. People often avoid confrontation because their life experiences are that confrontation has often (seemingly always) leads to conflict. Then the conflict may lead to pain. However, conflict resolution is also the process that leads to not just resolution, but also to intimacy, justice, and security. Thus avoiding confrontation will cause one to lose the opportunity to gain resolution, intimacy, justice, and security. Developed specifically for a class of children who had many conflict problems, The Working It Out Plan avoids starting conflict resolution with the common but divisive and fruitless question of, “What happened?” Teacher feedback revealed that her students were able to take this process and utilize it on their own in the playground. This step-by-step problem-solving process anticipates problematic actions and guides the conflict resolution process through affirmative processes. Not only is the immediate conflict resolved, but guidance to prevent future conflict is also introduced. TRT 37min
