Childhood Stress
Adults often inadvertently disable a child from being able to be strong and successful in their lives, by trying to protect them from stress. This presentation discusses both the positive aspects of experiencing stress and how to appropriately support the development of the skills and strength necessary to avoid the negative aspects of stress. A simple pneumonic, SFFSSSSSSF helps adults facilitate the development of a powerful child who will be able to welcome, handle, and grow from life stresses. Adults will be better able to have children experience life stresses as life opportunities. Adults, who integrate these lessons will also be freed from the impossibility of totally protecting and sheltering children from the realities of the world.
